Groundworks Canada Sponsors Coldest Night of the Year

Coming Together for Coldest Night of the Year

On February 22, 2025, Groundworks Canada proudly supported Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) in Etobicoke Lakeshore, Ontario—a powerful event organized by Haven on the Queensway. Taking place during one of the coldest months of the year, this annual walk raises awareness and vital funds for people facing homelessness, hunger, and hardship in the local community. As part of the initiative, Groundworks Canada contributed financially and was recognized during the opening ceremonies, in tagged social media posts, and on the campaign’s official website. The energy on event day was warm despite the chill, as volunteers, walkers, and sponsors came together to create real, lasting impact.

What We Achieved Together

Thanks to the dedication of 387 participants, community members, and local businesses, the 2025 campaign raised an extraordinary $180,107—exceeding its fundraising goal by 120%. The event’s success directly supports Haven on the Queensway’s essential programs, which offer food security, shelter support, and compassionate services for families in need. This kind of regional impact demonstrates the power of collective action and how organizations, residents, and sponsors can come together to improve lives. It also served as a reminder that community care doesn’t begin and end on one night—it’s a year-round mission.

How to Get Involved

The momentum from this year’s Coldest Night of the Year will carry forward through Haven on the Queensway’s impactful programs:

  • Hope With Wheels, a mobile outreach van delivering food, essentials, and clothing to individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • The Haven Food Bank, which provides over 1,500 people per week with nourishing meals and pantry staples.
  • Additional services like Haven’s Closet, First Care, and support for seniors and families—all of which help restore stability, safety, and dignity.

These programs ensure vulnerable individuals have access to life-changing resources when they need them most.
